Platforms to Monitor

The Platforms to Monitor section allows you to configure which social media and content platforms Notifier.so will search for relevant content. Each platform has different requirements and capabilities for data collection.

How Platform Monitoring Works

Notifier.so uses different methods to collect data from each platform. Some platforms allow us to monitor all public content, while others require search queries to generate results, and certain platforms only allow hashtag-based searches.

Reddit

Reddit offers the most comprehensive coverage of any platform. To monitor Reddit, simply select it from the platform list. No additional configuration is required. We automatically monitor all public Reddit posts and comments, giving you the broadest possible coverage. Once you've selected Reddit, you'll configure your specific criteria in the filtering section below.

When you select Reddit, you'll see advanced options appear. These allow you to include results only from specific subreddits or exclude certain subreddits entirely. There's also an option to ignore content marked as "Not Safe for Work." This will filter out both posts from NSFW subreddits and comments within those subreddits.

Twitter, YouTube, and Google Search

These three platforms work similarly and require you to enter search queries. Unlike Reddit, we can't monitor everything on these platforms. Instead, we need you to provide keywords that will generate results through their search APIs.

When setting up these platforms, enter broad keywords that relate to your interests. For example, if you're running an AI automation agency and want to find potential customers, you might enter "ai" as your search term. Remember that the results generated by your search queries become available to all Notifier users, so even though you're entering specific keywords, you may still receive matches from other users' searches through your filters.

The important thing to understand is that you're not charged for the results generated by these search queries, so feel free to use broad terms that will capture plenty of relevant content.

Hacker News

Hacker News works just like Reddit in terms of coverage. We monitor all public Hacker News posts and comments automatically, so you only need to select it from the platform list. No search query is required.

News and Blogs Database

Our news and blogs database provides comprehensive coverage of news sources and blog content. Like Reddit and Hacker News, this requires no additional configuration beyond selecting it as a platform to monitor.

Instagram

Instagram is unique among the platforms due to Meta's API limitations. The only way we can search Instagram and retrieve results is through hashtag searches.

To set up Instagram monitoring, select Instagram from the platform list and enter a relevant hashtag in the field provided. Important: enter the hashtag without the pound symbol. For example, if you want to monitor the hashtag #ai, simply enter "ai" in the field.

Consider using Instagram hashtag research tools to find popular hashtags that will generate results relevant to your business or interests.

Next Steps

After configuring your platforms to monitor, move down to the filtering section to create specific criteria for the content you want to receive notifications about.
